RESPONSIBILITIES: The faculty will carry a full time
teaching load of 12 hours per semester including evenings, weekends, and online
courses. The person will need to be able
to teach in the areas of human services and addictions. Other duties include advising students,
serving on committees at all levels of the college, sharing their expertise
with the academic and general community, and developing community
relationships. The successful candidate
must be comfortable and sensitive to working with students from diverse
populations.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required
Qualifications: Doctorate in Human
Services (or related field) conferred no later than July 1, 2010; or Master's
in Human Services (or related field) + NAADAC +CACIII. Preferred
Qualifications: 1)
Experience being a treatment provider with domestic violence offenders; 2) Teaching
experience in an accredited program; 3) Ability to teach Pharmacology and
Infectious Diseases from a drug/alcohol perspective; and
4) Three plus years of clinical experience.
RANK
& SALARY: Commensurate
with education and experience.

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB), a
mid-sized land grant university located in beautiful and scenic Southeastern Arkansas, is the second
oldest public institution of higher
education in the state. Founded
in 1873, the University is a multi-cultural, land grant institution and one of
103 Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the United States. The university offers 42 undergraduate degrees and four graduate degrees-administered through
four schools: Agriculture, Fisheries and Human Sciences; Arts and Sciences;
Business and Management; Education; and University College. UAPB has a position
in its Masters of Science Degree in Addiction Studies Program.
Associate
Professor/Assistant Professor (1 nine-month, tenure-track). Successful candidates must have terminal degrees in disciplines related to
addiction studies (e.g. public health, nursing, social work, psychology, criminal justice, etc.). Preference
will be given to candidates who have experience teaching in some of the following areas: bio-statistics;
drug abuse; tobacco use and abuse; dual diagnosis; prevention and treatment of
substance abuse and/or other forms of addictions, including gambling and food;
research analysis; family and individual counseling techniques; case management;
clinical models of addiction;
domestic violence; counseling special populations; and professional ethics. Successful candidates will be expected to teach
both at the undergraduate level and graduate level, develop research teams, maintain an active
research program, guide students in research projects, and supervise research associates in the area of
tobacco, alcohol, and other drug addictions.
